Galina Brok-Beltsova, a legendary veteran of the Great Patriotic War and a pilot in the renowned all-female "Night Witches" air regiment, is currently visiting the Belarusian capital. During the war, she flew 36 combat sorties, including liberating Belarus during Operation Bagration in 1944. She was awarded the Order of the Red Star and the Order of the Patriotic War. At the Lipki airfield near Minsk, the war veteran met with future pilots, cadets from the aviation department of the Belarusian Military Academy. The students had many questions for Brok-Beltsova, as they had only read about her exploits in textbooks. Brok-Beltsova is the only living female navigator of a Pe-2 dive bomber.
